ARULMIGU PARTHASARATHYSWAMY TEMPLE 

 PURANIC HISTORY OF THE TEMPLE 

The Parthasarathy Swamy Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams, is said to have been revamped by a King of Pallava tradition. "Brindaranya" is the conventional Puranic name of Thiru-Alli-Keni now known as Thiruvallikeni or cutting edge Triplicane. It is said that for no less than five thousand years, it has been a resting place for pioneers who had descended from Thirupathy to have a shower in the ocean on the times of Solar and Lunar Eclipses and on different favorable days it being in an immediate line to Thirupathy, Thiruthani and Trivellore and the course being free from bogs.

As indicated by Brahmanda Puranam, the five Deities in the sanctuary are said to have been revered by the Saptah Rishis viz. Bhrigu, Manchi, Atri, Markandeya, Sumathi, Saptharoma and Jabali furthermore have been adulated by two of the most punctual Al wars viz.. Thirumazhisai Alwar, Peyalwar and later on by Thirumangai mannan or Kaliyan, why should considered be the remainder of the Alwars sequentially and his year of conception would give off an impression of being 476 A.D. as indicated by the time of Salivahana Saka.

The directing Deity of this sanctuary Sri Venkatakrishna Swami otherwise called "GEETHACHARYA". As indicated by Brahmanda purana, King Sumathy supplicated Lord Thiruvengada of the Seven Hills to give him darshan as the Charioteer (SARATHY) to PARTHA amid the MAHABHARATHA WAR and rendering GEETHA. Ruler Thiruvengada showed up in his fantasy and bade him to go to "BRINDARANYA" where he would give him Darshan in the structure he wished. In the interim, Athreya Maharishi asked for his Acharya Vedavyasa to say to him the spot fit for doing Thapas and he was coordinated by his Acharya to go to Brindaranya on the banks of the Kairavani Theertham congested with Thulasi plants and where ruler Sumathy was doing Thapas. Saying as much, Vedavyasa gave Athreya a Divya-Mangala Vigraha with a conch in his right hand and Gnana Mudra in the left hand indicating HIS HOLY FEET meaning the well known Charama Sloka of the Bhagavat Geetha:-

"Sarva Dharman Parithyajya Mamekam Saranam Vraja Ahamthwa Sarwa Papebhyo Mokshayishyami Ma Suchaha" (18-66):

This core of the Geetha is rendered into English by Sir Edwin Amold accordingly:-

"What's more, given up those Rites and writ obligations! Fly to only me!

Make Me thy single shelter! I will free Thy soul from every one of its wrongdoings! Be of encouragement!"
